Love Me Like A Viking

Larry admits becoming a starstruck boob in front of Val Kilmer and Dennis Farina. He expresses his love of “phony leather” but wonders if vegetables are people, too.

In this episode — learn how the right pen can turn your life around. Hear about how Larry’s kind offer to share a free sandwich was rebuffed. Get an update on the “Indian style” vs. “criss-cross applesauce” controversy.

Larry also talks about the other famous Larry Millers and how they beat him to all of the good website addresses.

All this, plus letters and comments from listeners and Larry Miller Drinking Society members from across the globe! Agents from Slovenia and Brazil check in and we give an update on the status of LMDS membership cards.

Anybody else seeing the “alcoholism kills” banner ads on the right side of this page? Kinda kills the mood of the Larry Miller Drinking Society (LMDS)meeting.

There was a technical error with this episode at our syndication service. It is being worked on. The episode should be available thru itunes and RSS and will be up on this page shortly.

So, thank you very much to those of you who have politely informed us of the problem. We appreciate your patience. — Jeff

We Know it’s only 10:59am here in the middle of the pond but The Icelandic chapter of LMDS is punching in.

Keep up the great stories, Larry. I listen to you while I am at work and you make my day fly by. That story about Dennis Farina was pretty awesome.

I will be the first one in line from Canada to join the Larry Miller Drinking Society and proudly carry your card in my wallet.

This show is, without a doubt, pure joy to listen to. My 18 yr. old son and I enjoy listening to it while driving in the car together. From the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the LMDS, even though we do not D.

Greetings from LMDS-denmark. Being from the country of the original vikings I guess there would be a chance, that I could explain the term “love me like viking”. I can’t though. However, after hearing the Abott-story, I thought you might find it interesting, that the english word for skull stemms from the old danish word “skål”, which is our word for “cheers!”. As you know the vikings visited England alot, and when they did, they would celebrate surviving the journey across The North Sea by drinking beer directly from the skulls of the british folk, they had raped and killed on arrival. Hence the connection. Thanks for a great podcast

    Hey Larry

The show is great and as an answer to your question. What is the Latin for “you call that a Double!” I believe it something close to this: Tu, dices es duo libatio. I’m pretty sure that that is “You call that a double libation. However it has been years since I’ve used Latin. Again great show, keep going.

    Larry,

Love your stories and humor. Having followed your career for many years I’ve always thought of you as one the best comedians of your generation. At any rate..(sound familiar).. I’ve recently discovered podcasts and have become intrigued with the format. After listening to several shows that were classified as “comedies” I was disappointed to find they nearly all relied on vulgarity as their source of humor. Then I discovered your show and have become a fan, you are proof that a person can be very funny and entertaining without relying on f-bombs and crude language.

Cheers and keep up the good work

Larry, would love to have a conversation over a “cup of coffee” sometime

    Larry,

Apples and most fruits (drupes) do want to be eaten. That is how they spread. Evolutionary thing. That said, I have heard my beer talking to me.

Hi Larry, Great show! You mentioned that Dennis Farina is a bit of a scary man. This reminded me of your role in “Law and Order” as Michael Dobson, wife killer (I IMDB’d the character name so please note: I am not an obsessed lunatic). Your characer came across as a calculating murderer that you can’t help but love. With your positive worldview how could you channel such a demented being? “Women!”

  • TomZ

*character – sorry for the mis-spelling – I blame this on my membership to the Larry Miller Drinking Society. 🙂

I wish Larry would record a podcast more than once a week.

    I don’t think he needs a co-host.

I really enjoy listening to the podcast. More Larry please!

great show as always. the ‘by the way’ drinking game was again fantastic. love to be the pres or at least a rep of the LMDS Australia branch.

I love this podcast, my favorite on the network for sure (sorry Aceman!) All I ask is that it’s a little longer. Just 45 mins to an hour would be ok (though 2 hours would be awesome). It’s a compliment, I can’t get enough Larry Miller.

Thanks for doing what you do!

Just caught this Podcast for the first time- I wish I had found it a lot sooner!

BTW, Bag Boy is on DVD, but the “official” title is National Lampoon’s Bag Boy. I just put it on my Netflix list.

What a great show. What a great song. And what a great topic!

To “love like a Viking” is actually an act of sexual congress that requires a large, padded surface (preferably the living room floor), a bottle of water-soluble lube, a leatherette datebook (for the spanking part), and a plastic, Halloween-style battle axe.

A horned helmet and/or studded shield are optional, though generally preferred by Viking lovers.

Quickly becoming my fav Ace network podcast … keep up the great work Larry! Wish you’d come to Boston or NYC so I could catch your show and tip a few libations with my fellow LMDS members!

  • Bill from Tucson

I love your stories Larry. It’s the same reason I like listening to a good directors commentary on a DVD. You seem like a real “guy next door” kind of person. Love you in all those Christopher Guest movies.

About the “phony leather” incident: I was interested in Larry’s question about whether he personally could kill a cow, take its insides out, etc.

Good question. My mom grew up on a farm, and I remember her telling me that her mother would send her out to kill a chicken for dinner, and she always ended up crying. Her older sister, my aunt Martha, always had to chop the chicken’s head off. Some can do it, some can’t.

You recognize thus significantly when it comes to this subject, made me for my part consider it from so many various angles. Its like men and women are not involved until it is something to do with Girl gaga! Your individual stuffs outstanding. At all times maintain it up!
